CURRENT OPENINGS
Assistant Controller
  • Must have 5+ years of accounting experience and strong knowledge of financial statements

  • Proficiency with accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks, or similar) required

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, including general ledger and account reconciliation

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Effective leadership skills with a proactive, problem-solving approach

Join our dynamic accounting team as an Assistant Controller, where your expertise will drive financial integrity and strategic decision-making. Position reports to the Controller, where you will assist in overseeing the organization’s accounting operations, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and support the development of accurate financial reports. Your proactive approach and strong technical skills will help foster transparency, efficiency, and continuous improvement across all financial processes. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional eager to contribute to a mission-driven organization within a medium-sized, family-owned business, committed to excellence in financial management.


Candidates can expect a diverse working environment, including constant engagement with both internal and external customers. Position includes a path for advancement within the organization.


Accounting knowledge is required, and prior people management experience is preferred as you will help to lead our accounting team.

This is a 100% in-office position.


Controller Duties

  • Lead and coordinate the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to maintain precise financial records.

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining strong vendor relationships.

  • Supervise cash management activities, including forecasting, cash flow analysis, and banking relations to optimize liquidity.

  • Oversee payroll processing.

  • Prepare detailed financial reports, analysis, and commentary to support executive decision-making and strategic planning.

  • Conduct internal audits, support external audits, and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Oversee some HR functions including 401(k) administration, medical benefits administration and ACA compliance.


Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of accounting and financial statements.

  • Proven experience in accounting environments.

  • Strong understanding of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, account analysis, and account reconciliation.

  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks, or similar financial management tools.

  • Expertise in cash management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to inform strategic decisions.

  • Excellent financial report writing skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.

  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail in balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger management.

  • Ability to understand and influence complex process flows.

  • Effective team leadership capabilities combined with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.

Vehicle Reconditioners
  • Must be reliable, punctual, self-motivated, age 18+

  • Clean driving record and valid driver's license required

  • Full time, day shift, $17/hr first two weeks, piece rate thereafter

State Line Auto Auction is hiring full-time Vehicle Reconditioners to join our team in Waverly, NY. This role involves washing, cleaning, and detailing vehicles, and we’re looking for candidates who are reliable, punctual, self-motivated, and at least 18 years old. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.


This is a day-shift position with required availability Monday through Friday full-time. Starting pay is $17 per hour for the first two weeks, then moves to a piece-rate system.

  • Condition Report Writers / Vehicle Inspectors: Inspect vehicles for damage, take photographs, and complete electronic condition reports.

  • Lot Crew: Reposition vehicles on the lot.

  • Vehicle Drivers: Transport vehicles to and from dealer locations.

  • Over-The-Road Drivers: CDL and non-CDL positions, 2-car rollbacks up to 9-car haulers. (Home every night!)

Automotive & Body Shop
  • Automotive & Heavy Duty Mechanics: Diagnose and repair mechanical issues.

  • Body Shop Technicians: Prep, paint, buff, and perform body repairs.

  • Vehicle Reconditioners: Wash and clean vehicles to prepare them for sale.

Office Administrative
  • Title Clerks: Process title transfers for sold vehicles.
