Join our dynamic accounting team as an Assistant Controller, where your expertise will drive financial integrity and strategic decision-making. Position reports to the Controller, where you will assist in overseeing the organization’s accounting operations, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and support the development of accurate financial reports. Accounting knowledge is required, and prior people management experience is preferred as you will help to lead our accounting team.

This is a 100% in-office position.

Controller Duties

• Lead and coordinate the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to maintain precise financial records.

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining strong vendor relationships.

• Supervise cash management activities, including forecasting, cash flow analysis, and banking relations to optimize liquidity.

• Oversee payroll processing.

• Prepare detailed financial reports, analysis, and commentary to support executive decision-making and strategic planning.

• Conduct internal audits, support external audits, and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

• Oversee some HR functions including 401(k) administration, medical benefits administration and ACA compliance.

Skills

• Extensive knowledge of accounting and financial statements.

• Proven experience in accounting environments.

• Strong understanding of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, account analysis, and account reconciliation.

• Proficiency with accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks, or similar financial management tools.

• Expertise in cash management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to inform strategic decisions.

• Excellent financial report writing skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.

• Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail in balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger management.

• Ability to understand and influence complex process flows.

• Effective team leadership capabilities combined with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
